Dog & Handler Class - Volunteer

Volunteers will help therapy dogs and handlers practice skills needed when these teams visit schools, libraries, hospitals, nursing and retirement homes, or participate in special events.

Scenarios replicating real-world encounters for a therapy dog team will be practiced. These scenarios include the dog and handler walking through a crowd of people, a group of people all petting the dog at the same time, and distractions such as a "staggering" person, wearing hats, creating loud noises, and using mobility aids (walker, wheelchair).

Your participation in the therapy dog and handler class will help prepare the therapy team for certification evaluations.

You will feel good for doing good!

These are not dog socializing events. Volunteers - please do not bring dogs to the events.
